Food Sensitivity Testing
Healing starts with the MRT and LEAP Food Sensitivity Program
If the diet is playing a role in your condition, the combination of MRT with the LEAP program is a highly effective strategy to manage the chronic inflammatory conditions and general inflammatory symptoms caused by food sensitivities.
MRT (Mediator Release Test)
The MRT is a blood test that quantifies how strongly your immune cells react to foods and chemicals. It is able to quantify the reaction by measuring the changes in the liquids to solids ratio. When immune cells react to a food or chemical, mediators (pro-inflammatory chemicals such as histamine, cytokines, and prostaglandins) are released producing damaging effects on the body. If your body experiences a lot of mediator release, your body experiences inflammation and symptoms associated with inflammation.
The MRT tests your blood with 170 foods and chemicals, providing results that are vital to building an individualized LEAP eating plan.
LEAP Plan (Lifestyle Eating and Performance)
With individualized results from your MRT test, we can develop an individualized approach to your eating plan to systematically build a healthy diet with foods that you tolerate. The Lifestyle Eating and Performance plan is an elimination diet used alongside your results to develop a specific anti-inflammatory diet to reduce your symptoms. Working with a Certified Leap Therapist (CLT), you will get guidance throughout the 6-8 week protocol as you eliminate foods that cause the most non-allergic immune system reactions while reintroducing a diet of your low-reactive foods.
Indications for Food Sensitivity Testing
Symptoms that may be related to food sensitivities*:
Gastrointestinal discomfort
Bloating
Fatigue
Headaches
Stomach pain
Heartburn
Diarrhea
Runny nose
Sinus congestion
Conditions that may be related to food sensitivities*:
IBS with diarrhea
Migraine
Chronic headaches
Eczema
Acne
Rheumatoid arthritis
Fibromyalgia
Food sensitivities are challenging to identify because they are often dose-dependent and symptom onset can take up to 72 hours. Due to the differences between food sensitivities, allergies, and intolerances, the MRT does not test for allergies or intolerances.
*Just because you have some of the symptoms or conditions does not necessarily mean that you have food sensitivities. However, if you are experiencing many of the symptoms (and they are chronic and frequent) you may be a good candidate for MRT/LEAP.
What to Expect with MRT/LEAP
Most clients experience measurable improvement in symptoms in the first 10-14 days. As clients progress through the LEAP protocol with their Certified LEAP Therapist, they continue to see improvement for the next 4-6 weeks of their protocol.
Results depend on: how closely the LEAP protocol is followed, how longstanding your conditions/symptoms have been, and the degree to which food sensitivity plays a role in your condition/symptoms.
